That feeling when ...

Most people believe that being an author is a glamorous job and, although I love being an author, things are not always as they seem.

I was going to write a long post on how most of us fairly new authors have to juggle a day job, family, writing and marketing, but I thought it would come across as if I was complaining.

Yes, the hours are long. My day starts at 6 am and I usually work until 10 pm every day. But, it is also rewarding and I am grateful that I have been given the chance to share my stories with the world.

  • That feeling when you release your new book.

  • That feeling when you hold the first printed copy of your new book in your hands.

  • That feeling when your #AuthorBestie releases her new book.

  • That feeling when a fan comes up to you at a market to get your next book.

  • That feeling when a fan tells you her daughter is reading your book as set work for school.

  • That feeling when an author group asks you to join them for a takeover.

  • That feeling when another #AuthorBestie asks if she can post on your page.

  • That feeling when you see your advertisement on Twitter.

  • That feeling when an author you look up to retweets your Twitter advertisement.

  • That feeling when your cover designer sends you the proof for your next book.

I could carry on and on, but I think you get the idea. So, no matter how long the hours or how hard the work, there is always something to look forward to.

The most rewarding of it all?

You, the reader! That feeling when ... you step into my world!
